The
legacy began in 1977 when one man, Gordy Dodd, opened
a small store (2,500 sq.ft.) near downtown Victoria
in which he would sell all kinds of furniture, everything
but appliances and televisions. Now after almost thirty
years in business and three versions of the store later,
Dodd’s Furniture has become a mainstay in the
Victoria community. Now showcasing a beautiful three
story, 35,000sq ft. showroom right across from Mayfair
Mall, Dodd’s Furniture has become the largest
furniture store on Vancouver Island and with a slew
of well known television ads, Gordy has become as famous
as the furniture he sells.
The
Dodd’s furniture campaign is without a doubt the
most recognizable of all local advertising and it seems
that those wacky commercials (always starring Gordy
himself dressed up as a pop culture icon) is as popular,
if not more popular around the water cooler than last
nights sports scores. Dodd’s furniture is proud
of their community and have gone to great lengths to
support the area in a number of ways by sponsoring local
sports groups, donating furniture to school associations
and by hosting a yearly thanksgiving dinner for low-income
people.
Of
course in addition to all these things the main priority
of Dodd’s is to accommodate the people of Vancouver
Island with all their furniture needs; beginning in
’77 by selling furniture to the low-end market,
Dodd’s now services the middle- and high-end sector
and is proud to have a large selection of all to choose
from with help of course from helpful, friendly and
knowledgeable staff. At Dodd’s we are proud to
be a part of the wonderful community that is Victoria
and Vancouver Island and we want you to be proud too,
so come on in and speak with us today. |
